RF Telecommunications Engineer
Deliver end-to-end RAN engineering solutions to help develop tools and systems to assist with monitoring of RAN components and technical analysis and recommendation on future directional solutions.
Represent the Service Assurance System (SAS) team and actively liaison with all infrastructure vendors - Ericsson, Nokia and Samsung to understand their technical specs in relation to RAN and translating them into requirements for the software development team to develop tools and systems to capture network KPIs.
Interface with SAS developers, QA/QC, DevOps Engineering resources to deliver robust, scalable, and manageable application solutions requiring data processing for device network element, performance monitoring of all major network elements and per call measurement records in excess of several billion transactions per day across all for VZW 5G ICL, 5G NR, and 4G LTE/VoLTE technologies, and 1X/EVDO switches nationwide.
Ensure that performance applications are able to meet projected capacity growth of the wireless network, especially in the area of 4G LTE/VoLTE/5G. Ensure alignment with industry best practices, stay abreast of all pertinent technical standards in wireless RF, telecommunications and advanced network technologies, and communicating this direction to senior engineers and peer engineers in the organization so they can drive and support the efforts.
Provide technical consultation and guidance for solutions and infrastructure planning, NEC engineering, and SAS software development teams.
Mentor junior developers to perform at a high technical level. Define clear project deliverables and project time frames, manage stakeholders, monitor progress, manage reports, necessary documentation, and databases.
Administer, test, and implement computer databases, using knowledge of MS SQL and Oracle databases and their associated languages. Migrate database(s) to the cloud for clients. Coordinate with programmers and analysts to make changes. Test programs or databases, correct errors, and make necessary modifications, using MS SQL tools or Oracle tools, as appropriate. Plan, coordinate and implement security measures to safeguard information in computer files against accidental or unauthorized damage, modification or disclosure. Specify users and user access levels for each segment of database. Work as part of a project team to coordinate database development and determine project scope and limitations, using MS SQL tools and Oracle tools, as appropriate. Train users and answer questions. Approve, schedule, plan, and supervise the installation and testing of new databases. Select and enter codes to monitor database performance and to create production database. Establish and calculate optimum values for database parameters, using manuals and calculator. Set up database clusters, backup, or recovery processes. Monitor and report systems resource consumption trends to assure production systems meet availability requirements and hardware enhancements are scheduled appropriately. Develop or maintain archived procedures, procedural codes, or queries for applications. Use API to enable Microsoft and Oracle databases to communicate with each other. Plan and install upgrades of database management system software to enhance database performance.
